A wedding of a Marajah: for Indian marriages the Sheraton Lake Como reserved exclusively for four days
Four days and four nights of celebration, ceremonies and rituals, in perfect Marajah style. And no, we are not in Bombay or in Bangalore, but in one of the most romantic places of Lombardy. The Sheraton Lake Como Hotel, first international brand on Lake Como, during the past summer was chosen as the location for a dream-like wedding.
The young Indian couple reserved the entirely and exclusively the luxury facility with 137 rooms, bringing back to the lake the characteristic Indian scenery of colours, tastes and traditions. The prestige of the brand, the position and the personalised organisation of every detail made possible that the Sheraton Lake Como was chosen as location for a truly unique reception, which saw the participation of about 250 guests coming from various Indian communities from all over the world. The start of the celebrations was given with a typically Indian lunch followed by the sacred ritual dedicated to the God Ganesh held in a private room appropriately set up. Among the events held inside the hotel, the propitiatory ritual Tel Baan during which the groom is prepared for the grand ceremony even with funny and “light” moments, up to the much awaited Sangeet, held in the Spazio Como, the multifunctional auditorium with 350 seats, previously set-up specifically for the event.
Thus the pre-nuptial party, in which the members of both families perform in dances and songs, transformed into a non-stop evening with traditional dances, bingo, quiz shows, fine Indian food and spectacular looks, showy silks, bracelets, dresses and lavish saris. Available in the park of the hotel throughout the entire evening were the “Mehndi Artists” who decorated the hands and feet of guests with traditional Indian designs with hennè. Events concluded with a typical Indian lunch inside the hotel that preceded the religious nuptial ceremony, held in the prestigious backdrop of Villa Erba.
The events team of the hotel took care personally of all the organisation, from flower arrangements up to the study of personalised menus. For the occasion even the chefs from the Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel had to come over to Italy, and prepared the best vegetarian specialties of Indian cuisine. And also, so as every detail was truly perfect, the Fresco Bar offered guests during the four days a vast selection of Indian teas and infusions, whereas the meeting rooms inside of the hotel were set up as beauty area for the couple and their guests with expert hair-stylist and make-up artist coming from Milan and London.
