Alitalia takes cuisine stars on board: it is the company where businessmen and VIP Groups can taste the best dishes in the world
Alitalia has won for the seventh consecutive year the prestigious award for “Best Airline Cuisine” attributed by the America monthly Global Traveler. Almost 30,000 frequent flyers expressed their opinion this year on the excellencies of the tourism and travel industry, during the “GT Tested Reader Survey AWARDS 2016”.
The Italian company has been rewarded for the quality of the dishes offered on board, for the combinations with the best Italian wines and for the commitment in creating menus that express the best food and wine tradition of Italy, revisited in a modern key. “We are increasingly proud to recieve even in 2016 this award that has great value for Alitalia. It proves how much our frequent flyers appreciate the Italian cuisine we serve on board, famous in the world for the quality and variety of its recipe”, declared Aubrey Tiedt, Chief Customer Officer of Alitalia. “During the last year and a half, Alitalia has made important investments in the onboard service: we introduced the Dine Anytime in Business Class that guarantees a wider choice on when to eat; we offer, every three months, menus that are inspired by the various regional Italian recipes; and above all we trained our flight attendants so that, in their role as ambassadors of excellence of Made in Italy, even at 10 thousand metres above ground they can offer our passengers grommet dishes accompanied by a perfect combination of the best Italian wines.”
Thought particularly for business travellers and for top groups arriving in Italy, the food and wine offer in the Business class of long haul flights Alitalia includes sophistications such as the “Mezzi ziti alla liparota”, “Sword fish rolls with Pantelleria IGP capers, rosemary potatoes and Sicialian caponata” or the “San Daniele Prosciutto DOP served with a vegetable Giardiniera”. The menu is further enriched thanks to the range of wines selected by the official Alitalia sommelier and offered on board by the flight attendant responsible of the cabin, trained at the Fondazione Italian Sommelier.
