Always travelling for work? Here comes Handy, the butler smartphone available for free in hotel rooms
Handy arrives in Italy, the smartphone for hotels that eliminates roaming problems and not only. Developed by the start up Tink Labs Limited of Hong Kong, it is changing connectivity in the travel compartment: it is available as free service for partner hotel guests and allows travellers, business or leisure, to have access to unlimited local and international calls, internet connection, local emergency numbers, rapid selection to hotel services and other information such as tourist guides. The Handy devices were created in 2012 and by 2017 the company has the aim of reaching 1 million rooms starting with the about 100 thousand rooms in which Handy is already present around the world.
And Italy, destination par excellence, is a key market. At the moment the startup has made new partnerships with just a little less than 100 hotels in the main cities and top destinations and counts on reaching 50 thousand rooms. “We are present in Milan, Rome, Genoa, Venice and Florence, covering 10 thousand rooms in about a hundred hotels”, said Terence Kwok, 25-year-old founder and CEO who collected 125 million by faithful investors last year, to the Sole24Ore. “Initially our idea was that of renting some smartphones inside of airports”, explains Kwok, “however we realised quite quickly that it would not be deductible: when people land they want to get to the hotel as soon as possible”. And thus the idea to find the device directly in the room, that users can use to book restaurants, theatre tickets and visits to museums and places of interest.
Always on Handy travellers will find maps of the city and also the apps of the main social networks. Apart for the guests, the advantages can be measured also by hotel that, against an investment, one can find “an average evaluation of the hotels that offer Handy on TripAdvisor increasing by 0.31 points”, between the before and after service, concludes Kwok.
