Excellence Awards 2017, four Italian winners: two champion hotels in the meetings, events and weddings categories

As punctual as every year, the publisher Condé Nast Johansens assigns to European hotels present in its guidebooks at the Excellence Awards, the prizes of excellence in hospitality. During the 35st Annual Awards Dinner held in London on the 7th November 2016 the list of winners of the prestigious “UK, Europe & Mediterranean Awards for Excellence 2017” have been revealed. Italy wins in four categories, including that of Best for Meetings e Best for Weddings, Parties or Special Events.

Here’s the winning “poker” with the corresponding category: Best Luxury Value: Hotel Brunelleschi Firenze; Best Dining Experience: Hotel Gardena Grödnerhof, Ortisei; Best for Meetings: Grand Hotel Majestic “ex Baglioni”, Bologna; Best for Weddings, Parties or Special Events: Ca’ Sagredo Hotel, Venice. Found in the middle of Bologna, a few steps away from museums, theatres, galleries and Cathedrals, the Grand Hotel Majestic “ex Baglioni” has a strategic position for those coming to the fair and financial center of the city. The hotel boasts 109 rooms and some suites among the most luxurious of the city thanks to its marvellous draperies, textiles, original paintings of the 18th century, finely levigated marbles and mosaics. For meetings, the hotel has seven meeting rooms with natural light, three of which historic, with a capacity up to 120 people. Meeting planners also find an external room adjacent to the hotel, the ex Oratory dei Filippini, containing 240 places. 

Even Ca’ Sagredo Hotel of Venice returns back home a winner, elected as best for Weddings, Parties and Special Events. Found on the Grand Canal, Ca’ Sagredo Hotel is an ancient Venetian palace with frescoes, art works, stuccoes, paintings and furnishings from the 17th and 18th centuries. Once the property of the Counts Sagredo, today open also for gala dinners, weddings, events and receptions. It offers 42 rooms and suites and 5 halls for meetings and receptions. The main ones are the Portego (183msq, with a capacity of hosting up to 200 people), found on the piano nobile, at the end of a sumptuous staircase, and the Sala della Musica (156 msq) completely frescoed and with ceilings more than 9 metres high. As the name suggests, the space is ideal for concerts and musical entertainment, thanks to the perfect acoustic. The offer is complete with the Restaurant l’Alcova, with a terrace with view over the Grand Canal and an internal hall overlooking the market of Rialto.
