Hoteliers, be aware: the Chinese traveller conquers with the Fengshui room and gourmand restaurant
Chinese travellers represent a constantly growing and, consequently, are a fundamental resource for Italian tourism be it business or leisure. Therefore, there is only one way: hoteliers have to equip themselves to host at best and bring a touch of the Orient in their countries.
Indications regarding this arrive from the fifth edition of the Chinese International Travel Monitor, a research carried out by Ipsos for Hotels.com, the international portal dedicated to researching hotel rooms. The analysis, which observed the travel habits of 3,000 Chinese travellers, has been further enriched by the opinions expressed by over 5,800 partners of Hotels.com. According to national hotel owners, in the top 5 of favourite services of Chinese travellers is free wi-fi (72%), increasingly fundamental in receptive facilities all over the world. Following is the availability of a boiler in the room (42%) and of touristic material translated in language (17%). The list ends with the transmission of Chinese TV programmes (16%) and slippers in the room, requested by 12% of guests. Even good food plays its part for Chinese travellers: 51% of those interviewed, in fact, spent in Italy large part of their budgets in dinners and lunches, and according to 21%, a hotel should have a great restaurant inside.
Moreover, the majority of Chinese travellers – 66% – would like to have the opportunity of paying their bills with UnionPay. Finally, to differentiate from the receptive facilities of certain Countries, such as United States or the United Kingdom, to be even more competitive, 71%of Italian hotels is planning of furnishing the rooms of its Chinese guests according to Fengshui rules: oriental art, of Chinese origin, offers to support traditional architecture while designing the spaces and in the choice of furniture to furnish the room.
