In Florence Palazzo Wanny will debut: a multi-sport complex with a conference centre as desired by the sports businessmen De Filippo
It will be built in the west area of Florence, and will be made of more than one buildings and the first stone should be laid during 2017: this is the identikit of Palazzo Wanny, the multifunctional and multi-social sports complex that the businessman Wanny Di Filippo, a Florentine DOC as well as patron of the Azzurra Volley San Casciano, local female volleyball club playing in Series A1, wants to leave as legacy to his city.
The project, write the major local daily papers such as La Nazione and Nove da Firenze, will be a unique example in Italy of entrepreneurship at the service of the territory. It will be above all a location that will be active every day of the week, naturally through sports, but also with a diversified offer of events, shows, conventions, conferences and fairs. For the realisation of the project, in Project Financing regime with the Florence Local Council, the total investments predicted are about 6/7 million Euros.
The facility will be made of a Palasport with 5 thousand places, used strictly for the sports, competition and show part. The galleries will be retractable so as to make the space functional to host various types of sports events, even international (volleyball, basketball, football 5-a-side, and hand ball) apart from different disciplines (such as tennis, boxing and horse-riding) and non sports activities. Close to the main building there will be a second building, that will host a gym for the training of Azzurra Volley, wellness space, physiotherapy centre, offices and a conference hall with a capacity of 300 places.
“I always had many passions among which sports, particularly volleyball and my girls are half of my heart. Florence is a city with many excellencies that deserves to grow much more. I hope that this new multifunctional complex can be an important heritage for everyone, a meeting place, sociability, sharing and get together to cultivate the many vocations of our territory”, declared Wanny Di Filippo.
