Procida, the island in the Gulf of Naples becomes a wedding destination: it is now possible to get married on the beach
Bare foot on the sand, right in those cinematographic places in which the Oscar winning film “Il Postino” was shot. Yes, even Procia – beautiful island in the Gulf of Naples – becomes a wedding destination to all effects. With a recently signed deliberation by the Local Council, the little Phlegraean island throws itself into the weddings market.
“Lately the phonically by couples desiring to get married at Procida have increased drastically”, confirms the Mayor’s office to the daily La Repubblica. Therefore the decision was taken to “approve wedding celebrations with civil rite within open and natural spaces, such as free or rented beaches” or “public open spaces that have particular historic, architectural or environmental prestige”, as long as approved by the local council. Of course, there are some minimum criteria, for example not less than 25 metres squared of space for those areas intended for the celebration, however even beach lidos can become part of the weddings circuit.
“An increasing trend” confirms the wedding planner Federica Formisano, with “many French, but also British and Americans, many Italians and – new entry – some Dutch couples”. “Here – explains the Mayor Dino Ambrosino to La Repubblica – in any place one is, it is 200 metres away from the sea. The island boasts ten beaches with exceptional views. It was almost natural therefore to offer those who decided to get married here to consacrate their union in such beautiful scenarios.”
