Rome rises in the worldwide classification of top destination of 2017. It is in fourth place of the hit parade of TripAdvisor
Good news for Italyand for Rome particularly, that conquers one of the most prestigious positions in the classification that has just been compiled by TripAdvisor. The portal, in fact, has recently announced the winners of the Travelers’ Choice Destinations Awards 2017, that acknowledge the favourite places by travellers all over the world.
The winners of the awards have been established using the formula based on the quantity and quality of reviews and points of the hotels, attractions and restaurants obtained by the destinations of all the world in the last 12 months, as well as on the interest of travellers towards booking these destinations on TripAdvisor. The Eternal City rises in the pleasure index by international travellers gaining positions both in the worldwide Top 10 where it is in fourth place (+3 compared to 2016) as well as in the European classification where it obtains the bronze medal (+2 compared to 2016). On a national level Rome keeps its first place and the podium remains unvaried, with Florence in second place and Venice in third. Following, to complete the Italian top five, are Sorrento and Milan.
Even though it missed the national podium by a little, with Sorrento in fourth place, Campania is the main region of this edition of the Traveler’s Choice Destinations Awards. Apart from boasting the largest number of destinations that received awards in the Italian Top 10 (4 on 10), it counts 3 new entries compared to last year: Positano (6th), Naples (9th) and the Island of Ischia (10th). The only other region with more than one award is Tuscany, that apart from Florence (2nd) it receives an award also for Castelnuovo Berardenga in the Province of Siena (8th). An award each for Lombardy with Milan (5th) and Trentino Alto Adige with Selva di Val Gardena (7th).
To be correct Bali is the absolute winner of the title of most beloved destination in the world. If the Asian continent can boast this record, it is however Europe to win for quantity. More than half of the most beloved destinations in the world (6 on 10) are found in fact in the Old Continent: London (2nd), Paris (3rd), Rome (4th), Crete (6th), Barcellona (7th) and Prague (9th).
