T Fondaco dei Tedeschi: on the Grand Canal a location that unites lifestyle, shopping and purely luxurious events debuts

In Venice a place of marvels has just opened: a location that is at once high level shopping and space for meetings and events. The T Fondaco dei Tedeschi, the first location in Europe by DFS Group: the worldwide leading complex for the sale of high level products for an international public of travellers, born in Hong Kong, has in fact chosen Italy for its first step in the Old Continent. 

Found on the Grand Canal and right next to Rialto Bridge, in an exceptional position in the Lagoon city, T Fondaco dei Tedeschi spreads on 7,000 metres squared: a world dedicated to the most sophisticated lifestyle, full of ideas dedicated to fashion; watches and jewels; wines and liquors; beauty and perfumes. There is also a boutique dedicated to the most authentic Venetian workmanship and a food hall with the best labels and locally and regionally produced foods. The Event Pavilion on the last floor will host events and exhibitions that will enhance a lively schedule all year round. “It is a great privilege to inaugurate in the heart of Venice our first European location”, says Philippe Schaus, Chairman and CEO of DFS Group. “The Fondaco has been a commercial complex for centuries in the Lagoon and today we are honoured to bring back to life its original DNA with a sensitive and sophisticated project.”

Restored by architect and urbanist Rem Koolhaas and the interior design curated by Jamie Fobert, a real expert in the creation of exciting commercial environments to admire, the complex offers on the ground floor a lively medieval courtyard, with the boutiques of Gucci and Bottega Veneta – overlooking the Grand Canal – apart from a vast array of accessories and jewels. The Food Hall and craftsmanship complete the welcome to the Fondaco. On the first floor, accessible from the sumptuous bright red escalator designed by OMA, is entirely dedicated to female fashion and accessories with brands such as Bulgari, Damiani, Fendi, Lanvin, Max Mara, Tiffany & Co. and Valentino. The second floor boasts a unique multi-brand of high watchmaking found in Venice, with models by Cartier, Hublot, Omega and Paneria. Across there is a selection of male fashion and accessories. The third floor is the most exclusive hall dedicated to female footwear, and on the same level there is a department dedicated to beauty with a particular attention to skincare. Finally, the Event Pavilion of T Fondaco dei Tedeschi opens onto the terrace, with a breathtaking view over the city: and entire floor dedicated to events and exhibitions, a magic space for meetings and debates.
